Tour Itinerary
1. Harajuku Bridge
We’ll start at Harajuku Bridge, the meeting point between Tokyo’s peaceful shrine grounds and its most playful youth culture. It’s the perfect introduction to the contrasts that define this part of the city.
2. Meiji Jingu Main Torii Gate
Step through the massive torii gate at the entrance to Meiji Jingu, marking the transition from busy city streets into sacred forest. This is one of Tokyo’s most iconic spiritual gateways.
3. Sake and Wine Barrels
Along the shrine path, we’ll stop at the famous sake and wine barrel displays, offerings symbolising tradition, celebration, and Meiji Japan’s connection to both old customs and global influence.
4. Meiji Jingu Shrine Complex
At the heart of the forest lies Meiji Jingu itself, one of Tokyo’s most important Shinto shrines. We’ll explore the tranquil grounds and learn about Shinto rituals, prayer customs, and the shrine’s role in modern Japan.
5. Takeshita Street
Next, the atmosphere shifts completely as we enter Takeshita Street, Harajuku’s colourful hub of youth fashion, pop culture, and trending sweet treats. It’s loud, fun, and unlike anywhere else in Tokyo.
6. Cat Street
We’ll wander down Cat Street, a more relaxed and stylish backstreet filled with boutiques, cafés, and local street culture. It’s a great glimpse into Harajuku beyond the main crowds.
7. Omotesando Avenue
From there, we’ll reach Omotesando, Tokyo’s elegant tree-lined boulevard known for its architecture and high-end shopping. This area shows a more polished side of the city’s fashion and design scene.
8. Omotesando Intersection and Rooftop Café Stop
We’ll pause at one of Harajuku’s best photo spots near the mirrored escalators, then take a short break at a rooftop café surrounded by greenery. A perfect moment to soak in the energy of the area from above.
9. Return to Harajuku Station
We’ll finish back near Harajuku Station, right at the crossroads of shrine tradition and Tokyo street culture. From here, you’ll be perfectly placed to keep exploring or revisit your favourite spots.

Meet Your Guide
I’m half Australian and half Japanese, and I’ve found my way back to Tokyo through my heritage, a MASSIVE love for food, and a passion for connecting with people.
After spending ten years working as a sparky in Australia, and running my own Japanese street food business on the side, I eventually left it all behind to move to Japan and build something more meaningful.
Now, I share Tokyo’s history, traditions, and everyday food culture with visitors from all around the world, helping you feel comfortable exploring the city with someone who speaks the language and understands the local way of life.
