After a busy week of errands, working on the business, and Sebastian coming back to Tokyo, we gave ourselves a proper reset Saturday and honestly, it ended up being one of the best Saturdays I’ve had in Tokyo.

A Slow Start and a Really Good Conversation

Instead of our usual 5 or 5:30am wake-up, we got up around 6:30, which already felt amazing. We made our normal breakfast, oats and eggs, and sat down to something we’ve recently started doing together - as recently as the literal day before lol.

Each day we read a passage from John C. Maxwell’s 365 Days of Leadership and talk about the passage of the day.

That morning’s topic was about "The instrument of leadership" being communication. It turned into such a good conversation. Deep, reflective, and really grounding. No rush, no phones, just a slow, thoughtful start to the day.

Running Hills and Good Energy in Aoyama

After tidying up breakfast, we left around 9am and headed to Aoyama to meet our run club for Saturday morning hill sprints. The sun was out and it felt like one of those perfect, winter, Tokyo mornings!

Sebastian and I ran about 10 km, a little warm up and cool down either side of joining the hill sprints with everyone. SUCH a great way to move the body.

Afterwards, we grabbed a coffee at Starbucks with the crew and I’d brought a baked sweet potato for Seb and I so we sat there eating those and chatting with the Nanban Rengo crew before everyone slowly broke off.

Simple Food and a Proper Sento Reset

Sebastian and I stayed around Aoyama for lunch and found an absolutely delicious teishoku set nearby. Beautiful rice, fish, braised beef, just really good, honest Japanese food. Exactly what we felt like after our big run!

The braised beef was INSANE!

After lunch, we headed to a popular sento (public bath) close by. We got there around 2pm and stayed for an hour. Hot baths, 90 degree sauna, cold plunge. Super refreshing, super calming, and in my opinion one of the best ways to spend a Saturday afternoon :)

A Cozy End to a Perfect Day

At 3pm we headed home and did a couple more small errands about the house. After that I set up the little projector I recently bought and put on a movie. Our little houme cinema setup is A1!

We kicked back the rest of the afternoon, had an early dinner, went our separate ways for early bedtimes. No forcing the night, no extra plans, just listening to what the day had been - a calming reset day for the boys.

It was such a good Saturday. Calm, simple, grounding, and full of contentment. Easily one of my most relaxed Saturdays in Tokyo so far. How good.
